Although a Muslim country, Bali is a Hindu enclave and a somewhat different from the rest of Indonesia.
Alcohol is freely available in Bali. However, with the exception of Bintang, wine & spirits tend to be quite expensive. So, if you like sitting down for a “sundowner” in the late afternoon around at pool, it pays to bring a couple of bottles of your favourite tipple with you.
Whilst duty free limit is 1 litre per person, you can bring in what you like. Just declare it & pay some tax. Tax is about Rp 100,00 a bottle ($10) – but maybe you can negotiate a better price… for cash..! Works especially well if bringing in expensive wine…
Customs often have a view that westerners as “Walking ATM’s” – so negotiate..!
